It’s time to rethink how we use the things we need, from the food we eat to the clothes we wear. In a true circular economy, nothing is wasted or thrown away.
We can all reduce our waste and reuse valuable materials so they can have a second life. By keeping materials in use for as long as possible we can have a positive impact on our local environment.
Here are some tips on reusing at home:
- Consume less, think about what you buy and how many times you are going to use it.
- Consume better, read the labels, know where your products come from and how they have been produced.
- Reuse plastic where possible. Most plastics can be reused at home before they are recycled.
- Buy second hand clothes, furniture, toys, devices and appliances.
- Compost your organic waste at home.
- If something breaks, try to fix it before replacing it.
- Return packaging that can be reused to a business that you have purchased from so that they can reuse it again.
